Common Neck Pain Diagnosis
Neck and Shoulder Muscle Strain
This is a common cause of neck pain, especially for people who have sedentary jobs or spend long days in front of a computer screen. Muscle strain can lead to stiffness and pain in the neck, and can sometimes radiate to the shoulders.
Neck Sprain
Neck sprain is a condition in which the muscles in the neck become stiff and painful, often after a sudden movement or a poor sleeping position. It can make it difficult to move your head and may cause pain when you try to turn your neck.
Whiplash
Whiplash often occurs after a car accident, where the head is thrown
quickly back and forth. This can cause damage to the cervical vertebrae,
muscles, ligaments, and nerves, resulting in pain,
headaches, and stiffness in the neck.

Prolapse (disc herniation in the neck)
A prolapse occurs when one of the intervertebral discs in the neck becomes damaged and presses on a nerve. This can cause severe pain that can radiate into the arm or even cause numbness or tingling in the hand.
Cervical spondylosis (neck osteoarthritis)
This is a degenerative condition caused by wear and tear on the joints and intervertebral discs in the neck. Spondylosis can lead to stiffness, pain and reduced range of motion in the neck. It is common in older people, but can also occur in younger people with poor posture or overload.
NOTE! If you suspect whiplash, prolapse or cervical spondylosis, it is important to contact a doctor for further examination, which may include MRI diagnostics, so that the therapist can adapt the treatment in the best possible way.
